Katy Perry Dark Horse Egyptian Nails

In Katy Perry's new Dark Horse video she is rocking a myriad of killer Egyptian nail looks

I am obsessed with the gold and blue colour palate!

 I took inspiration from the styling of the the music video, mixed together some ideas to 

create some nail art and I'm loving the result

You will need:

Base coat - Essence 24/7 Studio Nails
Foil finish gold - Barry M Foil Effects Gold
Satin finish gold - OPI Love.Angel.Music.Baby
Bright blue - OPI What's A Little Rain Forest? (From the Brazil Beach Sandies)
Black nail art pen or striper - Glam Nails Black
Top coat - Face of Australia Aussie Nights
Thin nail brush

I'm using two different gold polishes with different finishes but you can use which ever and however many golds you like :)

Start with a base coat and then paint your pinky and index finger with the satin finish gold and your ring and middle finger in the foil finish gold. Paint your thumb a bright blue

***At first I had my middle finger in the satin finish but decided to change it to the foil finish at the last minute***

Once your nails are dry use a thin brush dipped in the bright blue polish to draw a thick line down vertically down the centre of your nail. Do this on your pinky and index fingers

On your middle finger use the same brush the swoop in with the blue polish from both sides of the nail to meet each other so you are left with a curved triangular point and then fill in above

For your thumb use the thin nail art brush again dipped into a gold polish and outline the nail. 

I found it easiest to draw a line down each side of the nail first and then go along the cuticle line and finish by going across the free edge

It's time to focus peeps! It is time to create The Eye of Ra so steady your hands and channel your inner Cleopatra (fun fact: she was actually Greek!)

I recommend having a quick go at drawing the eye on paper before jumping straight onto the nail

Take your black nail art pen and start by drawing a cat like eye 

Add some depth by thickening the inner corner and elongating the outer corner into a piercing line

Next add an eyebrow parallel to the curve of the eye 

Draw a kind of triangle coming down from approx. the inner third of the eye

From the other side of the eye pull down and create a curved diagonal line that curls in at the end

Add a solid circle coming off the top line and finishing about half way down the eye 

Done! I added a top coat to my ring and middle finger but decided to leave the others without to let their raw finish, being satin or liquid sand, shine through

I did similar designs on my other hand but instead of the eye I drew an ankh using my black nail art pen 

To draw the ankh start with a thick horizontal line across the centre of the nail. Next form a triangle from the line down to the cuticle. Draw an oval from above the line finishing just underneath the free edge. To make it thicker start with a thin oval and then go over it 5-6 times
