Wedding Nails!!!

A few of my friends have got married this year and I have had the absolute privilege to do the nails for the bride and/or their bridesmaids

It is really so special to have the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful occasion and it just makes me so incredibly happy to be able to serve and love them in this way

Here are some shots of the weddings I have done so far!

Jacqui & Mike - July 4th 2015

For Jacqui we did a silver to white ombre and the bridesmaids had a white ombre to a different pastel to match their earrings - yellow, mint green, baby blue and lilac

Kay & Paul - September 26th 2015

For Kay with did a really subtle and classic sheer pink to white ombre french tip

Tim & Lauren - October 3rd 2015

Lauren's bridesmaids all had white with two horizontal lines or metallic gold stripping tape towards the tip

Turquoise Stone Nails

These turquoise stone style nails have been doing the rounds for a while so with some free time during the uni break I thought why not have a go!

You will need:

Turquoise polish - piCture pOlish bonbon
Black polish - Sally Hansen Black Out
Gold/Gold flake polish - O.P.I Don't Speak Pure 18K Gold
Base coat - Orly Bonder
Top coat - Seche Vite
Spray

Start with a base coat and then 2 coats of a turquoise polish

Leave to dry and tape off the skin around the nails

In a cup of room temperature water drip a few drops of black polish into the water like you were marbling and allow to spread

Take some form of spray with a thin mist such as perfume or insect repellent. I picked Off! Insect repellent spray and it worked a treat

Spray the surface once or twice and watch the polish separate and vein. Choose a pattern you like and gently lower your nails into the water to capture the design. Leave your nails submerged in the water and clean the surface with a Q-tip. You can do one nail at a time or 2, or 3 if you please

Remove the tape and clean any polish around the nail with polish remover.

To get the gorgeous metallic details throughout the design you can either repeat the steps done before with a gold polish or I decided to use a gold flake polish.

Apply one coat of the gold flake polish and then follow with your favourite a top coat and your nails are now precious gemstones!

Inside Out Nails

I recently saw the movie Inside Out with my parentals and what a hoot! Seriously a great film, super funny and wonderful for helping children regulate their emotions. Love a movie with a witty script and psychological benefits!

Any the who, obviously a nail design must ensue, capturing the quirky characters Joy, Sadness, Fear, Anger and Disgust.

You will need:

Sunshine yellow polish - O.P.I I Just Can't Cope-A-Cabana
Moody blue polish - Essie I'm Addicted
Very violet polish - Covergirl XLPlumped-Up Plum
Blood red polish - O.P.I Big Apple Red
Grass green polish - O.P.I You Are So Outta Lime
Dark purple polish - Barry M Indigo
White polish - Face of Australia Cool Cotton
Black polish - Essence Black is Back
Base coat - Revlon Quick Dry Base Coat
Fast drying top coat - Essence quick dry topcoat
Top coat - Seche Vite
Dotting tools
Striping brushes

Start with a base coat and then paint each nail a different colour to match the 5 emotions represented in the movie

Add a layer of fast drying top coat to ensure the white we use for the eyes over the colour isn't blended

Take your white polish and use dotting tools and striping brushes with white polish to create the different shaped eyes.

Now add details to the eyes to really show their personalities.

Joy - oval eyes with a blue outline, blue iris and arched blue eyebrows

Sadness - round eyes with blue iris and black glasses frames

Fear - round eyes with purple iris and concerned purple eyebrows

Anger - trapezium eyes with red iris and frowning eyebrows

Disgust  - cat-like eyes with green iris and fluttering eyelashes

Leave plenty of time for the designs to dry and add a glossy top coat taking care to glide, not drag, the brush across the nail

Cupcake Nails

Sweet enough to eat

Recently I turned 21 on the same day my gorgeous sister turned 24! Yeah, it's pretty cool, we're not twins but we get to share a birthday! It's legit the funnest, greatest, most special thing ever getting to celebrate a double birthday with my best friend every year!!!

Birthday Buddies
As part of the birthday celebrations we had some of the cutest cupcakes from a fabulous store in Sydney called My Little Cupcake. Their cupcakes were so delicious and adorable and inspired these cupcake nails

The Matrix nails

Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix is.

You have to see it for yourself.

The Matrix is everywhere. It is all around us. Even now, in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work... when you go to church... when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth.
