Toy Story Nails

I have a confession...
I HAVE NEVER SEEN TOY STORY.

True story peeps, I have managed to exist for nearly 21 years without seeing any of the Toy Story movies. This has not been a deliberate avoidance, we simply have not had the chance to come face to face.

This doesn't mean that I am totally oblivious to the world of Toy Story and the blissful characters that fill it. So even though I haven't seen any of the movies I do know how to Google and have become familiar with some favourite characters and created a nail art design inspired by them.

These nails feature:

  • Woody's checked shirt
  • Woody's cow print vest
  • Buzz Lightyear's  uniform
  • The 'ANDY' name label on the shoes of the toys
  • An alien
You will need:

Base coat - Essence Studi Nails 24/7
Top coat - Sally Hansen Insta-Dri
White polish - Face of Australia Cool Cotton
Black polish - Sinful Colors Black on Black
Brown polish - Maybelline Mauve Kiss
Yellow polish - OPI I Just Can't Cope-acabana
Red polish - OPI My Paprika Is Hotter Than Yours
Bright green polish - OPI You Are So Outta Lime
Dark green polish - China Glaze Four Leaf Clover
Blue polish - piCture pOlish Instinct
Lilac polish - Barry M Prickly Pear
Dotting tool
Stripping brush

Start of by painting your pinky and middle finger white, ring finger yellow, index finger brown and thumb blue. Paint each colour 2 coats and leave to dry completely

Pinky - Cow print vest - White
Take the brush and dab it off then place 5-6 splodges on the nail then fill in the empty areas with smaller splodges with a toothpick

Ring finger - Woody's shirt - Yellow
Dip your stripping brush in red polish and paint 3 vertical lines up the nail. Then add 3-4 horizontal lines across the nail

Middle finger - Buzz's uniform - White
Paint a bright green tip across the top of the nail. Dip the stripping brush in the lilac and add 2 lines coming down from the bottom of the green tip to form the top of a triangle

Index finger - Andy's name label - Brown
Dip the stripping brush in black polish and carefully right 'A' 'N' 'D' 'Y' across the nail ensuring that the 'N' is backwards

Thumb - Alien - Blue
Create a white half circle at the cuticle. Add a large white dot half way up the nail and then join the dot to the semi-circle with a line. Add 2 small triangles at either side of the semi-circle and fill them in.
Once the white is dry go over everything with a bright green polish. Add 3 large white dots within the green semi-circle for the 3 eyes and then add 3 small black dots within the large white dots for the pupils

Leave everything to dry and then add a brilliant top coat and your Toy Story nails are ready to play... watch out, Andy's coming!
