Mean Girls Nails

On Wednesdays we wear pink

So if you didn't know today (an actual Wednesday) is the 10 year anniversary of Mean Girls!!! How insane is that! So as a tribute to this cult classic who's quotes live on in everyday conversation I have created these hot 'Burn Book" nails... seriously they are so fetch

You will need:

Base coat - Essence studio nails 24/7
Bright pink polish - China Glaze Bottoms Up
Black polish - Sally Hansen Black Out
White polish - Sally Hansen White On
Red polish - Barry M Blood Orange
Top coat - Face of Australia Aussie Night
Baking/wax paper
black and white stripers or pens or permanent marker
Scissors/straight edge nail clippers

Tweezers/orange wood stick/toothpick

Start with a base coat and then paint your nails the brightest, girliest pink you can get your hands on

While they are drying take a piece of backing paper and paint 4 small black squares and 4 white squares

Leave these for 10-15 minutes to dry completely

Now take your pen or striper or dotting tool and create the letters "B, B, U, R" in white on the black squares and "O, O, N, K" in black on the white squares

Leave these for a few minutes then take a toothpick, orange stick or tweezers to carefully peel the squares off the baking paper. I used an orange wood stick to flick up an edge and then gently slid it back and forth

Depending on the size of your squares and nails use scissors or straight edge nail clippers to cut down the squares so 2 will fit on each nail

Apply a generous coat of top coat to one nail at a time and using your tweezers place the letters on your nail and gently press down
Continue this until you spell "BURN BOOK" (make sure your spell it correctly!)

Optional: take a thin nail art brush in black polish and add some random lines and scribble around the letter squares

Add a SWAK to your thumb ***fun fact: SWAK stands for 'Sealed With A Kiss'
Use a thin nail art brush dipped in red nail polish and draw a stretched out 'M' on your thumb nail and then draw a curved line underneath and fill it in. Leave a small space in the middle and then draw a crescent moon on its side underneath the 'M' and fill that in to create a kiss print

Clean off your brush and then dip it into the same pink polish you used as your base. Wipe off most of the polish and then draw thin, broken lines vertically down the lips to give it a more realistic look

(sorry the photos for this step are so shocking ahhh)

Finish everything off with a top coat and you go Glen Coco
