Brushes, Brushes, Brushes!!! In the makeup world they come in small, thin, short, angled, fanned, tipped, fat and tall. Being spoiled for choice can become a problem. Makeup is like paint and your face is like a canvas you need the right equipment to make the finished product look more realistic than abstract. But with all these brushes how do you know which one is the right one to use for each job without becoming a professional? Here are some basic brushes and their uses:

Powder Brush: The Powder brush is defined by its soft compact bristles that provide a full finish when applyingpowder including compact and bronzer. After dabbingthe brush in the acquired powder it is important to always remove the excess with a light tap before applying to the selected areas. This brush should be a stable in every girl’s makeup bag.

Foundation Brush:  The Foundation brushes has well compacted long bristles that are required for the application of liquid foundation. Remember when applying foundation less is more. Apply less liquid foundation with this brush and add more if needed. It’s easier to add then to remove.

Fan Powder Brush: This brush’s bristles form the appearance of a small fan, hence its name. It is used for mostly soft loose based powders that can be applied with a gentle application. It allows the powder to have a softer effect on the skin instead of being dense.

Contour Brush: Ever Dream of model cheek bones? The Contour Brush is an extremely important brush for the sculpting of the face. Its main purpose is to provide the illusion of high cheek bones through the application of darker shadow tones. Its angled round edge allows the brush to highlight and shadow necessary areas. Just apply bronzer or a powder that is a shade darker then your foundation powder.

Blush Brush: This brush is again another soft brush that is acquired to apply the blush on the apple of the cheeks. The soft bristles and curved head allows an easy application of soft pinks or warm browns.

Eye Shadow Brush: A very commonly known brush is the eye shadow brush. This brush has thick, short and flat bristles that are necessary to provide an even and thick coverage of eye shadow.

Angled Eye Shadow Brush: This brush comes in a long rounded edge with an angle that is ideal for applying eye shadow to the socket of the eye. This allows better coverage to the crease of your eye.
